Our Story

Portlandia Candle Company started innocently enough; one night over steaks and beer.  Perhaps there was a little too much beer, but sometimes too much of something can be a good thing. From an abundance of laughter and camaraderie came the realization that our tight knit group of friends had experienced similar hardships. Among us, we shared out-of-the-blue setbacks, life-altering news, and unexpected loss. From these misfortunes, a common understanding, that life is full of dichotomies. Sometimes serious, sometimes hilarious, sometimes both simultaneously. From this, Portlandia Candle Company was spawned. Our goal is to make candles for you that resonate with the idea that life is rife with incongruity: events in our lives can be both serious and whimsical, simultaneously. Our candles showcase seriously beautiful craftsmanship, with unexpected whimsy.
